We recently celebrated my daughter, Ainslee’s 4th birthday! She wanted a pink and purple theme, and an ice cream bar.
With these 2 ideas, I was able to reuse some decor from Briana’s shower (our middle sister), and use a stand from our play area for the ice cream bar.
Affordable Birthday Party Decorations
1. Streamers

Streamers are super inexpensive and come in so many colors making them perfect, affordable birthday party decorations.
Attach string to a small pole or branch before attaching the streamers. This way you can hang them from a lot of different places, and move easily.
We reused these from Briana’s shower, and just added a purple streamer.
2. Balloon Garland

Balloon garland has become a pretty big trend for birthday party decorations, and really for a lot of events. Although it looks like it could be difficult, they do make kits now that anyone should be able to do. You can find one on Amazon here.
We also reused this from Briana’s shower. Some balloons did start to deflate, so I just removed those, and added in some pinks and purples.
3. Flag Banner

Flag banners are so cute, so customizable, and yes, affordable! All you need is construction paper of any color, sticker letters, hot glue, and string.
We used different pinks and purples, and some glitters letters.
4. Dessert Stand

You can get creative with this, and just decorate any type of stand with some balloon garland and tassel garland.
This specific one is actually used as a market in our play room. It is made out of an Ikea side table and wood boards.
5. Cake Decorations

Cake decorations can be so simple, but can also totally make the cake. Add fresh or faux florals, or anything that coordinates with your theme.
We marbled the icing with pink and purple colors, and added faux florals on top to match.
